New 2 level building – 7 treatment rooms – specialty medical skin and cosmetic clinic.
On a prominent site, in conservative Boroondara, the Design Development and Town Planning process stretched over 2 years. Client and council were ultimately reconciled, and the building’s form remains as one of my favourites.
This was by far the most exacting of the medical projects we have undertaken, but with the stress has come great reward. The envelope uses a range of quality materials which deserved special attention in detail and craftsmanship. Our contract team and the client sweated through the process, but we have all arrived at the far end with a great product.
The search for a ‘best aesthetic outcome’ made for a design which evolved during construction with more changes than would be ideal. These variations were managed with our usual emphasis on outcome ahead of income.
